A password's role determines what a member can do with it once it's shared with them.
| Role | What you can do |
| Owner | Full control: view, edit, and delete a password. Can grant or revoke access and update roles. |
| Manager | View and edit a password. Can grant or revoke access and update roles, except the Owner's. |
| Editor | View and edit a password. |
| Viewer | View a password only. |
When you create a password, you are its Owner (see What is Passwords). When the Owner or a Manager shares the password, they assign a role — Manager, Editor, or Viewer. Learn how in Share a Password.
When a password is shared with a team, every member of that team gets the assigned role. Members who are added to the team later get access to the shared passwords automatically; members removed from the team lose access automatically.
